I have no idea if this is worth the money, but I’m definitely gonna get it anyway. You know how non-nostalgic I am, but a CardCaptor Sakura Blu-ray set sounds pretty sweet. Three sets, in fact. Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3.

Dc doesn’t much knowledge of the whole “crazy bisexual” trope or anything that doesn’t involve grim and gritty comics.
DC seems to have jettisoned all vestiges of common and business sense. Doesn’t seem to have affected their bottom line much.

That article about Hange was a great read. I had no idea there was some turmoil over the character’s gender. It’s kind of an interesting case as to how the structure of language can determine so much about our realities. It’s like people who are limited to he/she can only think of people as two possible personalities.
Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy have always been a couple in my head cannon. But I do not know who these current characters are. They are sure as hell not Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. It just grates on my nerves that when this doesn’t become as popular as they’d hoped they’ll just think it’s because no one wants to read about lgbt characters when actually it’s because people just hate the New 52 iteration of the characters (at least in my experience. I obviously can’t speak for everyone).
I’m with you completely Lindsey. It does not occur to them “Hey these are crappy characters, in incomprehensible stories, we keep rebooting every 6 months. That’s why they sell badly.” But, then, American industry leaders don’t seem to notice that reorganization every 10 months actually make it harder to do business. So apparently, it’s systemic.
Dc lost me as reader when they screwed over Batwoman. I’m just watching them from a far shaking me head.

Both items pertain to the series Noir–one to the anime, the other to its live-action counterpart. Admittedly the anime-related news is more than a month old, but it failed to make it onto any of the anime websites in English, so I thought I might mention it here. Specifically, the “all-night screenings” Noir event at Theatre Shinjuku in Tokyo on December 14 of last year was apparently sold out. Those featured at the event included Kotono Mitsuishi (Mireille Bouquet) and Hōko Kuwashima (Kirika Yūmura), as well as the producer of the girls with guns trilogy, Shigeru Kitayama. (Kitayama, the Bee Train veteran who originally proposed the idea of such a trilogy to Bee Train creator and director Kōichi Mashimo, also maintains the official Twitter account for Noir’s upcoming BD release: https://twitter.com/noirofficialtw. This Twitter feed features an account of the ongoing remastering process, as well as a bunch of information related to the weapons used in Noir, a recollection of the events surrounding the series’ creation, and some adorable fan art retweeted in the weeks leading up to the all-night screening.) To the considerable relief of this Noir fan, the live-action series is finally, truly dead. It had been on life support since late 2012 (when reports of “creative differences” began to emerge), but last week we received official confirmation that the plug has been pulled, via Starz Media’s managing director, Carmi Zlotnik: http://www.indiewire.com/article/television/carmi-zlotnick-interview-starz. A brief recap of the series’ script woes (evidenced by the fact that at least three rounds of experienced writers were brought on to write the pilot alone) can be found at http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-01-22/starz-live-action-noir-remake-at-standstill. Few fans know just how close this stillborn project actually came to fruition, in that the sets were completed (by Tapert’s production company in New Zealand, Ghost House Pictures), a director for the pilot, Mark Beesley, was hired (http://variety.com/cable-tv-pilot-season-list-network-scorecard-6/#network-273-starz%20media/page-1), and initial casting was completed, as we know from an interview with Malaysian actress (and runner-up for the role of Kirika) Sarah Lian in Esquire Malaysia (http://www.sarahlian.com/2011/10/esquire-women-we-love-november-2011/). As one of the two finalists for the part, Lian was flown to Auckland and escorted to her audition by none other than Lucy Lawless; unfortunately, some of the other details in the Esquire interview provide additional confirmation of why many fans of the anime series might be relieved by the cancellation of its live-action porn parody.
