Yuri Manga Whispered Words (Sasamekikoto) is On Sale Now in English

May 16th, 2014

Sumi is in love with her best friend, Ushio. Ushio likes girls but has publicly declared her interest is in “cute girls”. Unfortunately for Sumi, she’s not small and cute – she’s tall, athletic, and forthright by nature.  In Whispered Words, all the tropes of Yuri gather together in a solid dramedy that provides readers  the darkest depths and the highest heights of each trop possible

Whispered Words  is the English language release of popular Yuri manga series Sasamekikoto, by Takashi Ikeda, put out by One Peace Books.  Volume 1 contains the first three volumes of the Japanese series and will be followed by Volume 2 (JP volumes 4-6, which is now up for pre-order) in Autumn 2014 and Volume 3 (JP Volume 7-9). Here is the link on RightStuf.

We’ll be doing a full review here – and we’ll have a contest giveaway in a bit, but for all you Yuri manga fans who have said many time that if something good got licensed you’d buy it – here’s you big chance to step up.  Scanlations may have left you frustrated, but I guarantee that if you get all 3 volumes of Whispered Words, you will not be disappointed. The story is solid. ^_^

    Bought, as you know. *lol*

My only REAL complaint is that the cover copy is kinda misleading about poor Akemiya.

I pre-ordered this from Amazon months ago, and promptly forgot about it, until the other day when it finally shipped. Though I also forgot that Whispered Words was the the English title, so I had no idea what it was that I ordered until I opened up the box and saw the cover. True story. ;) I’ll probably repeat this when Volume 2 gets a pre-order.

  3. Haha, I had exactly the same experience. I’m like “I didn’t order anyt…oh!”

This was one of my favorites and mine is already on my bookshelf next to the originals. I have the anime as well. Might they claim to have written the cover introduction that way to gain more interest outside of Yuri? I still do not like the way they wrote it, but typically grasping onto the only male character they had in order to focus on a male is not a surprise. In any event, there were no color pages or extra of course and I noticed some american slang or such words inserted in translation, but otherwise I think it looked fine. It is good for what amounts to 3 volumes of the original manga translated into english. I hope all the fans this has had will purchase so they will publish the rest.
