On October 29-30 Yaoi Yuri Con will be held in Lyon, France – their first ever, how cool for them! If someone attends, please feel free to write up a report!
And Yaoi and Yuri Con in The Netherlands returns for March 2012. This con has been around a few years and every time I’m in communication with these folks, it just gives me a sense of energy and joy. There’s some great grounded, creative energy behind this con.
Someone recorded the NYCC 2011 Panel: XX Women in Queer Comics,so you can listen to it and be wowed by the stories by Jennifer Camper, Joan Hilty, Abby Denson and Kris Dresden. Thanks to the folks at Gay Nerds.com for putting this up!
Pop Culture News has filed a report on the It Gets Better (With Comics!) panel from New York Comic Con.
And thank *you* all for your contributions to the CBLDF at NYCC: They raised over $12,000 towards the legal fees of Brandon X with your help.

Yuri Manga
Morinaga Milk is participating in a Yuri anthology: 百合缶Feuille.
YNN Correspondent Anon-kun wants you all to know that Rakka Ryuusui (落花流水) Volume 6 is out. He also reminds you about Hidamari Sketch (ひだまりスケッチ), Volume 6 and suggests a new series for fans of the above, Whip Note (ホイップノート).

Yuri Anime
YNN Correspondent Katherine H has this to say: “It turns out that a fall series that recently premiered, Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon has a Yuri couple. It’s a trashy series, but it’s a trashy series with a surprisingly nice couple. (Admittedly, I’m a little bowled over because I didn’t expect anything from this season beyond the one-sided crush going nowhere on Working!! season 2 and the creepy one-sided crush in Shinryaku!? Ika Musume.)”
and she add this for good measure:
“Just wanted to mention that’s there’s supposed to be a canon Yuri side character in this season’s Ben-to. I haven’t seen it myself. More satisfyingly, Saber, the cool, iconic female fighting character in Fate/Zero, is being slashed by some fans with a character named Irisviel for her debonair suit-wearing kakkoii-ness in episode 3. They will never actually get together, but it still makes F/Z more fun to watch.”

That’s a wrap for this week.
Become a Yuri Network Correspondent by sending me any Yuri-related news you find. Emails go to anilesbocon01 at hotmail dot com. Not to the comments here, please, or they might be forgotten or missed. There’s a reason for this madness. This way I know you are a real human, not Anonymous (which I do not encourage – stand by your words with your name!) and I can send you a YNN correspondent’s badge.
Thanks to all of you – you make this a great Yuri Network!
Is that Nana and Hitomi on the cover of Feuille but wearing each other’s uniforms? Heh, I think I might need to keep an eye on that.
Love Hidamari Sketch, I hope Yen Press releases Vol06 in a reasonable time frame.
Ok so Horizon is actually worth at least starting. Plot seemed sort of interesting but then I got put off by Mr. Doujin McBoobgrab in the PV. Might wait until it finishs then watch it just in case it goes south…
P.S.
Erica, have you watched the first epsode of LAST EXILE, Fam the Silver Wing? At least with the first epsode it seems to fit the feel of the first season. Not sure yet if any or how much Yuri we might get out of this series.
@Felix – I have not watched any of LAST EXILE. If it’s worth reviewing, send me a guest review!
The lesbian Angels in Horizon are probably the only two characters I’ll end up liking in that God-forsaken show.
The fact that we see Saber in a suit on a regular basis alone makes Fate/Zero worth watching. Adding a little Yuri fuel with another beautiful female character makes it all the sweeter. Granted, it’ll all end in tragedy due to the stories nature as a prequel, but it’ll be nice while it lasts.
TSRI promised an extra special extra for people who pre-ordered all three Revolutionary Girl Utena box sets. I pre-ordered the first, and just pre-ordered the third, but due to a classes drought in the first half of the year I bought the second boxset after release.
Strictly speaking I didn’t pre-order all three, but when I got my automatic shipping notice that says they can’t ship an order out because its not available yet (! of course, since it was a pre-order!) … I saw that it included the extra special extra.
I think that was cool of them.
BTW, as an SF fan, I liked Last Exile, and am happy that Last Exile: Fam seems to be keeping it up … but I’m not expecting a shred of Yuri. Maybe Fam will zOMG! touch the shoulder of the younger princess in an overly familiar way, generating a small flutter among those watching with Yuri goggles turned up to 11, but if so it’ll be a “royalty and precocious pirate with no respect for titles” thing.
@BruceMcF – TRSI are going to try to give as many folks as they can this extra.
I can’t tell you anything about it, except to say, SQUEE!
@BruceMcF – Well one can always hope ^_^ Possibly it will follow the first series model and have Fam X Giselle as the man couple. One thing I worry is that Giselle might get shoved to the background like Lavie did.
By the way, according to ANN there is plans for an actual Last Exile browser based game, at least in Japan anyway.

Tres kewl.
I’m curious about this Yaoi Yuri con that’s happening in France and the Netherlands. Though the skeptic in me is saying the former will greatly overshadow the latter. Hopefully there’ll be some balance in the events and showings so both fandoms will get their fill.
Thank you for the link to the queer comic panel audio.
You were huge! I really enjoyed what you and the other panelists had to say, particularly about reminding Yuri fans to buy Yuri as that is how supply and demand works.
@Robert Moore – I’m glad you enjoyed it. ^_^ I’m always the cold water shower of reality in creative discussions.

The former’s on October 29-30 and the latter’s in March 2012, so schedule slashes for potential guests of honor seem unlikely. :)
Also, not everyone who reads French reads Dutch too and vice versa. So, the French con probably won’t overshadow the Dutch con for Dutch fans who don’t read French, and vice-versa. :)
OTOH I can see how there could be a budget clash for some potential guests of honor (for example, maybe some artist’s looking at the schedules and realizing “at my pay rate, if I go to Europe in October 2011 then I won’t be able to afford to make a second trip to Europe until summer 2012…”). :(
@Anonymous – I think the first Anon was referring to BL overshadowing Yuri, which is typically the case.
Thanks for clearing that up!
@Anonymous – My pleasure. ^_^
