Goodbye Okazu, Welcome to Okazu!

March 4th, 2013

flipIn August 2002, I began writing down thoughts I had on running an anime convention. And then my thoughts on Yuri anime and manga in general. I chose a free blogging platform, because that was the thing to do – websites were static, kind of old fashioned, blogs were in. The age of MySpace hadn’t yet dawned, Social Media was a phrase as yet unheard of. Xanga was hot and LiveJournal was cool and Blogger was a small, upcoming product. I chose Blogger.

With many thanks to Lissa Pattillo (who I recommend as a veritable WordPress Master), Okazu has now come home to Yuricon.com. And we’re not done, yet. You’ll notice that this new Okazu maintains its own identity.  Right now, the old site is redirecting to the new site, but if you want to save the new URL it’s https://okazu.yuricon.com

We hope you like the new site and we still welcome your comments and thoughts, guest posts and sponsorship!

Goodbye to the old Okazu and Welcome to the new Okazu! ^_^

Looks good as far as I can tell. Here’s to you on a brand new era.

Nice looking website. Much easier to load, than the other. On a side note, almost had a heart attack when I saw the title lol

  3. Definitely looks better and loads faster. And I agree it’s better to have your blog on your own domain. ;)

Congratulations on the fresh start! I’m looking forward to continuing to read avidly and to often learn things.

I could not find the RSS feed button. I hope you add it in the future.

  6. @OkazuFan – RSS buttons are now enabled – you can subscribe to the posts and/or comments. Links are at the bottom of the sidebar under “Subscribe to Okazu”.

I like it! It looks quite lovely~ I’m kinda going to miss the tags on the right hand side, but good job the both of you!

    • The tags are still on the right-hand sidebar, in the drop-down menu called Categories. (Right above Archive)

If fact, they are much improved, with easier breakdowns. Want to find my reviews of the Marimite manga? Now you don’t have to wade through all the manga reviews, or all the Marimite reviews, there’s a nice tidy subcategory! Drop down to Series -> Maria-sama gaMiteru ->Manga … and voila!

And above those is a search box if you’re looking for something specific.

One of the things I feel pretty strongly about is decent navigation, so if you have any thoughts on improving navigation around here, let me know!

    Hi, Erica,

    Congratulations on your new site!

The mobile site does not appear to be forwarding — when I visit Okazu on my ipod I get last week’s Yuri Network News, and hadn’t thought you had updated until a chance visit the other day.

I will update my own bookmark, but you might want to check into that.

    • Thanks! You are correct, the mobile site on blogger does not forward. I’ll see what I can do about posting a redirect to Blogger, but no guarantees. ^_^ I have enabled a mobile version on the new site, so if you update the link, you should have no problems with mobile.
