Starting off with something cool today: You may remember about a year ago when Tokyo Disney was the site of a lesbian wedding. Higashi Koyuki and Tabuchi Hiroko ended up with a globally covered wedding event. Now Higashi-san has written a comic, which has been illustrated by Masuhara Yuuko, called Lesbian Married Life (レズビアン的結婚生活).
Manga Erotics F, Volume 85 contains 50 pages of Shimura Takako’s comic “Awajima Hyakkei” about a totally fictitious all-female school for musical theatre in western Japan. For first looks at the comic, you can read Chapters 1 and 2 online for free (in Japanese.) Also in this volume is “Futari no Joou” and a great cover. I’ll definitely be getting this issue.
Ohana Holo Holo, (オハナホロホロ 6) Volume 6 wraps up a story that had me all ups and downs the entire time. ^_^
Pure Yuri Anthology Hirari Volume 13 (ピュア百合アンソロジー ひらり) is up for pre-order. I gotta say, I never believed Hirari would make it this far. Good for them.
I have no idea what this is – and it’s got to be bad, really, the name tells us that, but I am compelled to get it. Mayuri no Kyoufu Houkoku Tamashi no Kikan.(魔百合の恐怖報告 魂の帰還) The title is something like “Evil Yuri Horror Report, Return of the Spirit.” I don’t like horror, but how could I pass this up? ^_^
Seven Seas announces a new Yuri license: Yuricest story, Saburota’s Citrus from Comic Yuri Hime. There’s two interesting features to this license. The most important is it means they’ve re-established contact with Ichijinsha. The second is that I still wouldn’t expect to see anything on the order of Amano Shuninta’s work coming from them.
I have never reviewed this manga, nor even purchased it – it is not bad, but the Yuricest plot makes it uninteresting to me, so don’t bother looking for a review. I scan it in the magazine, but it’s otherwise not on my radar.
Taifu Comics, however, knows that French readers appreciate quality Yuri and have licensed Amano-sensei’s Watashi no Sekai o Kousei Suru Chiri no You na Nanika (私の世界を構成する塵のような何か) as All You Need is Love for the French-language market.

Yuri Anime
Thomas in Tokyo, who is working on the upcoming Bodacious Space Pirates movie, shared this picture of the new Bentenmaru design with us on Twitter. He also expresses the hope that we’ll get a Blu-ray release of the movie in the US. I’m totally with him on that.

Yuri Movie
Chica Busca Chica, (Girl Seeks Girl) was a popular Spanish-language Web comedy drama series about lesbian friends. In conjunction with the website One More Lesbian, they are running a Kickstarter to make a movie, Girl Gets Girl. Spanish, w/ English subtitles lesbian drama for the win. Lesbian written, directed, acted, and it doesn’t suck. Check out the Kickstarter Promo . I was instantly captivated by the actresses, there’s none of that “we’re acting now” awkwardness one sees in low-budget series. This looks like something to watch, for sure.

That’s a wrap for this week! Become a Yuri Network Correspondent by sending me any Yuri-related news you find. Emails go to anilesbocon01 at hotmail dot com. Not to the comments here, please, or they might be forgotten or missed. There’s a reason for this madness. This way I know you are a real human, not Anonymous (which I do not encourage – stand by your words with your name!) and I can send you a YNN correspondent’s badge. Thanks to all of you – you make this a great Yuri Network!
France gets all the great Yuri manga. They got all three Yuri manga by Ebine Yamaji. Lucky! I’m looking forward to the Bodacious Space Pirate movie. I loved the anime series. As a fan of certain all women troupe that will not be named, Awajima Hyakkei is right up my alley. Maybe if Citrus works out well for Seven Seas they’ll license more Yuri. But at the same time, it’s not my cup of tea, so do I buy it for the sake of them bring more Yuri over or not?
That’s a good question Liz and one I’ll be asking myself as well. What do other people think? Do we support a “Yuri Manga” we don’t have interest in to support Yuri in general, or do we pass and hope that a miracle occurs and the next choice isn’t so meh?
By all means, let Seven Seas know that you’d rather see something by Amano-sensei or Morishima Akiko-sensei (or whomever,) but recognize that they may have had limited choices and it could well have been Citrus or Yuri Danshi.
For myself I will probably buy it, review it, then give it away, because I don’t like it as a story enough to hang on to it. And I will ask Seven Seas to try to license Yuri that is less fetish-y, (although they seem to be happy to license things that are more fetish than plot.)
Erica,
The link in this posting to the “Lesbian Married Life” comic seems to be broken. Did you mean to point to this?

Ohana Volume 6 HELLZ YEAH!
Unfortunately, it looks like “MaYuri” is just the author’s given name, judging by the subtitle on the cover of another volume from the series.
I don’t see it as “unfortunately, but as a pun. Yamamoto MaYuri is the author’s name, MaYuri is written with Hiragana: まゆり. In the title of the series “MaYuri” is written in Kanji as: 魔百合. It makes perfect sense as a pun on the author’s name
What I meant was that the series doesn’t seem to have anything to do with evil lesbians, or any other kind of lesbians. At least, I don’t see any in the previews of other volumes I looked at.
I see. That would be a bummer.
