Ride or Die on ANN

April 19th, 2021

Thanks very much to Lynzee for giving me a chance to talk about Ride or Die on Anime News Network.

I’m not in the habit of hitting them up for space, but this series is important to me and I wanted someone with experience with the manga to review it, so I offered my services. AFAIK, this is my only review there in all these years. ^_^

If you have an account for the forums, drop a line and let me know what you think!

  1. Verso Sciolto says:

“Mizuhara revealed that, after hearing from other acting friends who work on HBO productions in America, she was actually the one who suggested the addition of an intimacy coordinator — a job that, in all honesty, really intrigued her.”

The review you linked reminded me of a time when Mizuhara Kiko spoke about times, earlier in her career, when she did not always feel comfortable on sets. When she shared her recollections of photoshoots and publicly asked questions, in her own words, about the conduct of photographers and crew, posted on her social media accounts, in the context of burgeoning Me Too in Japan.

Excerpt from the NBC review you linked: “Stars of Netflix’s lesbian thriller ‘Ride or Die’ on their on- and off-screen connection.”

Thanks again for all the reviews and interviews.
