Yuri Interview

Don’t assume the worst, it could have been a scheduling issue, but an interview with The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t A Guy At All Creator on ANN, has been pulled down. Of course fans immediately begin to fantasize the most paranoid reasons, but it was probably just a schedule issue. Anyway, you can read it on Web Archive.

  1. Thanks for putting this together, as always! I’ll definitely have to check out Tithe in Blood, the new items in the Yuricon store, and think you are right about the ANN article, from what I have seen on social media. The adaptation of Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android? promises to be good, and the See You Tomorrow at the Food Court anime adaptation is promising. After all, the script writer, Jukki Hanada, previously worked on Sound! Euphonium while the character designer and chief animation director Kyuta Sakai worked on Kase-san and the Morning Glories. I’d say the same for
Awajima Hakkei, which many alums who worked on Cardcaptor Sakura (whether the OG series or Clear Card), and interesting has a few people who once worked on Nana. I definitely have to go back and rewatch Sweet Blue Flowers and Wandering Son sometime.

Also ANN reported (today) about the release of the bowling anime, Turkey!, and while it likely will go the female friendship route, it is notable that the character designer (and chief animation director) of the series, Airi Takekawa previously worked on Ippon Again! There was the news from ANN last Monday about the new iteration of the Love Love! franchise, Ikizu Live! Love Live! Bluebird. I’m guessing it will be, like the others, centered on female friendships yet again, but I’m unsure if it will have an anime attached to it or not, with Sakurako Kimino as the creator, known for creating the original concepts of every anime within Love Live!, and originally created Strawberry Panic!

Otherwise, I did think it was interesting that Anime Feminist’s recent recommendations for winter 2025 (https://www.animefeminist.com/anime-feminist-recommendations-of-winter-2025/) notes that Ave Mujica -The Die is Cast- is “its best…like Dear Brother (a comparison that starts to feel purposeful after a while, between the ominous gifted doll and one character lifting Asaka Rei’s backstory almost beat-for-beat), with a melodramatic flair.”
