Well, Kannazuki no Miko ended, and Chikane and Himeko ended up together, but, really, it made NO sense at all.
Do we care?
Not really.
It doesn’t matter that “eternity” seemed to last no more than about 3 minutes, and that raping a person so that they will kill you is a stupid idea, and that the whole mecha thing was a giant waste, and the bad guy was a complete nothing….it doesn’t matter because Chikane confessed her love and her physical desire for Himeko, who basically told her that she wouldn’t kick her out of bed and kisses Chikane in a nice visual parallel to the kiss at the end of the first episode (which, by the way, proved me wrong, because in my first review of Kannazuki no Miko, I was pretty sure they would *not* get together. Wrong again. ^_^)
Because pictures are sometimes actually worth a thousand words, I will eschew a description of the insensible ending and simply offer a picture which not only succinctly summarizes the end of the series, but is also highly amusing. This magnificently succinct picture was drawn by Juji and is now used here with permission of the artist, for which I am immensely grateful! This was meant to summarize the first episode, but it seems to work for the last – and many of the middle episodes, as well. ^_^ Thanks Juji!
And there you have it. The end of Kannazuki no Miko, as interpreted by a genius among fans. We await sequels with bated breath. ^_^
i personally loved it. i love kannazuki no miko xD
I am also one of the fans of the Kannazuki no miko anime. It was a nice blend of Yuri and shintoism :)
its actually my fave anime right now, I loved it, it actually made me cry, and the suspense and confusion only made it ten times more captivating, and kept me watching to the last episode to see exactly who would win. and omg chikane’s eyes are sooooo beautiful! lol sorry
I watched it on a friend’s recommendation.. haven’t really watched much anime before, but now am looking for as much as I can find, because I liked this one. I, too, must confess.. I cried at several places in the story, and ended up watching it with my girlfriend because some of it was very pertinent to us. Perhaps it’s not good enough for more lofty anime fans, but for a new girl, it was really good.
One of my favorite animes. It was a great show. It was really deep and sad, but ended happily; I like how it did that.
i think it is a really good anime. the oment when the moon girl die my heart just broke and i cry. i love their relation and more when she doesn’t accept the prince because she knows her love is somewhere no far from her.
the Anime was great, its ending like that that first make me want to dug my nails into her stomach, then hug her really tight. x3 (Referring to Himiko)
And your little cartoon was funny.. applied well to the show, if a little cold for the end. :P
This anime isn’t much, speaking as a critic, but I love Chikane-chan! I love her! I love her! I love her! I love her! I love her! I love her! I love her so much that I think this is the greatest anime ever in the universe! I love her so much that my life would be complete if I can just look at her with a telescope! Dude, I love her so much I will melt if I see her up close…… If I can touch her hand or hug…… Oh, god…… I hope this won’t happen…… Because I still want to keep my sanity…… I will give everything for that to happen…… For her…… I will die for to touch her hand…… I will sell my soul to the devil a gazillion times for this…… I am so jealous of Himeko! I am too jealous that I can just……AAAAAAHHHHHH!! I apologize for my language and behavior. I just love her so much that I can only scream. And I am very crazy right now. Crazy for her anyway. That is why I often do not want to watch anime. It saddens me so that I clearly realize that the characters aren’t real. Only in dream may I truly be with her. It would be okay and I would not be too sad if I only love someone to the end of the world. But when I love her this much…… If I see her…… I can just hug her and cry…… speechlessly…… begging her not to leave me…… ever…… Anyway, this is a great anime, but the mecha don’t make sense or fit in this anime, but it still is a very awesome series because of her, her and Himeko of course. I love Himeko, too.
Kannazuki no miko should be seen more than 1 time since there are some things you couldn’t understand at first, also it’s heavily based on the religion Shinto, which it makes a lot more sense after you read something about it. Kannazuki no miko <3
Actually…it was okay and all….but….it wasn’t THAT tear-jerking for me… Though i personally loved the characters (especialy Chikane)…er…the plot could’ve been….? ^^” I go with Erica on this one guys…. It’s alright to watch…but i don’t know why it got on the top 10 of 2005… >> eheh. I don’t know why the other “young’uns” (which i am considering my age) like it SO much… ^^” but ah well….what’s my opinion worth? C:
I just finished the series and I have to agree 100% with your assessment. I really wanted to like this one. The protagonists had a lot of potential but then it all went into the toilet at episode 8. I spent the remaining episodes trying to figure out wtf was even happening with the plot and convinced I’d missed something essential. I’, not one to shy away from confusing imagery (enjoyed revolutionary girl utena) but much of this struck me as melodrama for the sake of melodrama without a believable explanation as to each character’s motivation. Nice to hear I’m not alone. Thank you.
I disagree with you on your opinion on Kannazuki no Miko. For me it’s a perfectly balanced and diversely interesting show. And yes, I like mecha etc in it.
