Yuri and Yuri-adjacent Live-Action

Via Comic Natalie, we learn that SakaShima‘s student council Yuri manga  Fukukaichou no Omona Oshigoto (副会長の主なお仕事)  is getting a live action adaptation. The drama is currently airing on TokyoMX on Fridays.

Fans of Chaser Game W (reviewed here on Okazu by Frank) will be thrilled to hear that the second season of the live-action series is getting a sequel film in Spring 2026, Chaser Game W Intimate Relationship. ANN’s Rafael Antonio Pineda has the details.

Discotek has announced the release of 2016’s cyberpunk Cutey Honey Tears. I know it probably won’t be Yuri, but Honey always is welcome on Okazu. ^_^

Also not Yuri, but darn interesting-looking is Cosmic Princess Kaguya, which will be streaming on Netflix this month. Japanese mythology, idol/band stuff and girl stuff. ^_^ Maybe adjacent? We’ll see. Looks colorful.

*Also* not Yuri, but adjacent is the news that the Sound! Euphonium Final Movie, Part 1 has a theme, by TRUE. I do wish to express displeasure at multi-part final movies. Bad. No cookie.

Hanakage Alt’s Unnie’tte Yonde mo Ii desuka? (オンニって呼んでもいいですか？) about a K-pop stan and the star she idolizes meeting on a dating app, has moved to CMOA and is heading for a tankoubon collection, according Hanakage-sensei’s X account. Check out the free sample chapter in Japanese.

Adeline Kon‘s Yuri GN about two competitive skaters, Just Between Us is available from YuandMe Books!

Yuri Light Novel

inori. has announced a new I’m In Love With The Villaness sequel novel, which will be released in Japan with GL Bunko, Furimukinasai, Watakushi ni! (振り向きなさい、わたくしに！), which follows the adventures of Rae and Claire’s adopted daughters Aleah and Mei. The link above goes to Kindle JP only, but I’m sure we’ll see it in other formats and languages soon enough.

We have a key visual and an official X account from the upcoming Amayo no Tsuki (雨夜の月) / The Moon on a Rainy Night anime. ANN’s Crystalynn Hodgkins has the details.

New Arc: There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… ~Next Shine~ is up on Youtube and already has over 120K views. The original series is staying up on the It’s Anime powered by REMOW channel until January 5th.

Yuri Manga

Via Sr. YNN Correspondent Matt Marcus, a new Yuri/GL/Baihe imprint has been announced by Crossed Hearts, GLAM BEAT. On X, they say of this imprint that it is “devoted to women-driven stories that are intimate, bold, and unapologetically romantic.”

Joana Cayanan on ANN has the news that A Ninja and an Assassin Under One Roof manga will be ending with the 7th volume.

On Shonen Jump Plus, Kashima Ayunari has a one-shot that isn’t Yuri,  but is really interesting and Yuri-adjacent about a woman who has a friend who just doesn’t seem to change with the years. Check out Meh-chan no Himitsu online in Japanese. 

Somehow, Kuzushiro has *another* manga. This one is a one-shot (thanks David for the clarification) on Kuragebunch, which I presume is the online arm of Comic Bunch. Gintama no Kachi o Ageru Houhou (銀玉の価値を上げる方法) is about the friendship between Yoshioka Mito , an honor student who aspires to be a doctor, and Saiga Rei, a “low-ranking” gal.

Happy Last Yuri Network News of 2025! It’s been a lot of a year for all of us, bu we’ve been pretty blessed on the Yuri front. As I look into my Yuri crystal ball, I can say this with absolute conviction…2026 and 2027 are going to be amazing years for Yuri. Most importantly, while we have Yuri art and stories, and our own lives filled with joy, we have hope. Yuri Manga

Via YNN Correspondent Mang’albine, inee’s Love Bullet is licensed for release in France, notably not from one of the usual suspects, a company called éditions Vega. Speaking of which inee has announced on her X.com account, that Love Bullet has been nominated in the 2026 rankings for manga we want to see animated.

Via Sr. YNN Correspondent Matt Marcus, Aoto Hibiki has announced a new Yuri series beginning in the March issue of Comic Cune Kono Koi, Ittan Mochikaerasete Itadakimasu (この恋、一旦持ち帰らせていただきます), which is an office love story.

Via her official X account, Chapter 9 of Hitorimi Desu (ひとりみです) Morishima Akiko’s story about older lesbians, was updated today on Comic Walker!

Via Comic Natalie, Arui ha Watashi no Metantei, Volume 1 (或いは、私の名探偵) Dr. Pepperco’s new Yuri series from  Comic Cune about a detective and partner in high school has it’s first collected volume, on sale now. Comic Cune is once again getting very Yuri. ^_^

YuriEureka’s Kiss the Demiurge is 50% off on Steam. This is “a yuri visual novel about love, delusions, and magic. Follow Minori, a mage tasked with keeping magic a secret, as she investigates a group of delusional girls who mistakenly believe themselves to have magic of their own. Will Minori destroy their magic club, or fall in love?”

Pukari announced on X a new Yuri VN coming next spring, the moody-looking Atara Yoru no Kanojo (可惜夜の彼女). According to the thread, it will be available on a platform called Novel Game Collection（ノベルゲームコレクション).

Yuri Light Novel 

Via Sr. YNN Correspondent Sean Gaffney, on X.com Volumes 12 and 13 of  Tensei Oujo to Tensai Reijou no Mahou Kakumei (転生王女と天才令嬢の魔法革命) will be published back to back in January and February in Japan. Volumes 1-8 are available now in English. Volume 9 is headed our way in summer 2026.

Yuri Anime

There’s a new trailer up for Kamiina Botan, Yoiheru Sugata wa Yurinohana (上伊那ぼたん、酔へる姿は百合の花) about a person who “gets Yuri” when she gets drunk. Whee.

Live Action 

Via Alicia Haddick on Bluesky, Takarazuka’s Castlevania is available as a video on demand with subtitles on Beyond Live through the end of March. I picked up my ticket for a surprising low $15.20 USD for a 2-week window. I think all of that is very reasonable. Check out the promo on Youtube.

Via SapphicLoner on X, Hulu JP’s live-action drama for Shimura Takako’s Otona ni Nattemo, was the No. 1 ranked Original series on the platform.

Two sad notes today. Via YNN Correspondent Patricia B, Nananan Kiriko, creator of Yuri manga Blue, has passed away at the age of 52.

And via ANN, Kagurasaka Atsushi, creator of Taisho Baseball Girls has also died at age 59.

Via Rebecca Silverman on the ANN Discord, here is a cool-looking (if not cheap) book for those of you doing queer media studies, Queer Narratives in Contemporary American Comics: Gutter Smut (Routledge Studies in Gender, Sexuality, and Comics) by Sandra Cox.

Not Yuri, but my write-up of the Manga Is An Art Of Its Own! at The National Museum of Asian Art – Guimet exhibit is up on ANN and it was an amazing exhibit. I hope you’ll read and comment. ^_^

And my review of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Volumes 5-9 is up at ANN as well. Structurally, I think Frieren is a perfect manga. I am so happy to have been given a chance to review this.

YNN Correspondent gqll notes that Tokyopop’s LoveLove imprint has pre-orders up for Unnie, I Like You!, Volume 1, a collected Korean manhwa and Yuri Espoir, Volume 5.

Tokyopop has been busy this season. Via Sr. YNN Correspondent Sean Gaffney, we have this announcement of a new license from them on X: The Villainess’ Bride by Kawano Akiko.

And via Sr. YNN Correspondent Patricia B, we have the wonderful news that Yuri Hub and Bookwalker are formalizing their collaboration. Grab your faves from Inui Ayu, Namaniku and others on Global Bookwalker. Bookwalker has a new CEO, J Novel Club’s Sam Pinansky is taking over, and we are told to expect a new look soon.

YNN Correspondent Aleril wants you to know that Viz Media is simulpubbing Gal x Gal Yuri by Inoue. Chapter 1-3 are free, more  will require a subscription. I just read the first chapter, it’s absolutely adorable. The translation is 10/10.

Sr. YNN Correspondent Sean Gaffney wants to let you  know that Yen Press has few announcements. We’ll be getting Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury—Vanadis Heart  and See You There, Beyond the Ocean. Our very own Sr. YNN Correspondent Patricia Baxter has this to say on the Bluesky announcement. “This was drawn by Taiwanese artist Monday Recovery, who also did the art for Yáng Shuāngzǐ’s (Taiwan Travelogue) “Fantastic Tales of Splendid Blossoms” novel and graphic novel”.

The folks at Manga Mavericks have listed Butch x Butch Yuri Anthology on their store! Quick disclaimer – I work with MM now as an editor, but this piece has nothing to do with me. ^_^

Via Comic Natalie, Keyang, creator of Throw The Suit Away Together has a short story collection, Don’t Call Me Sempai, (センパイって言うな きぃやん百合作品集) being released by Ichijinsha. Keyyang and other Yuri artists are releasing Osake no Sei ni wa Shimasenkara Yuri × Inshu Anthology  from Comic Newtype  (お酒のせいにはしませんから 百合×飲酒アンソロジー).

Via Yuri Navi, Afternoon Tea ha Ikagadesuka? Watashi to Sempai no, Fujunde Ichizuna Futarikurashi (アフタヌーンティーはいかがですか？ 私と先輩の、不純で一途なふたり暮らし) is being serialized on Comic Walker, drawn by Fumio Fumi and original story by Momota Ro . This is a classic “adult” story of college roommates.

Lastly, via Sr. YNN Correspondent Matt Marcus, Sweet Heat  (スウィートヒート！) is a new manga by Kosame Hiyori combining Yuri and wrestling. ^_^
