YNN Correspondent gqll notes that Tokyopop’s LoveLove imprint has pre-orders up for Unnie, I Like You!, Volume 1, a collected Korean manhwa and Yuri Espoir, Volume 5.

Tokyopop has been busy this season. Via Sr. YNN Correspondent Sean Gaffney, we have this announcement of a new license from them on X: The Villainess’ Bride by Kawano Akiko.

And via Sr. YNN Correspondent Patricia B, we have the wonderful news that Yuri Hub and Bookwalker are formalizing their collaboration. Grab your faves from Inui Ayu, Namaniku and others on Global Bookwalker. Bookwalker has a new CEO, J Novel Club’s Sam Pinansky is taking over, and we are told to expect a new look soon.

Continuing the 20th anniversary celebration, Yuri Hime Cover Art Collection (百合姫表紙集 2011-2025) focuses on the third phase of the magazine’s art, in the years since it started doing cover stories.

Yuri Manga

YNN Correspondent Aleril wants you to know that Viz Media is simulpubbing Gal x Gal Yuri by Inoue. Chapter 1-3 are free, more  will require a subscription. I just read the first chapter, it’s absolutely adorable. The translation is 10/10.

Sr. YNN Correspondent Sean Gaffney wants to let you  know that Yen Press has few announcements. We’ll be getting Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury—Vanadis Heart  and See You There, Beyond the Ocean. Our very own Sr. YNN Correspondent Patricia Baxter has this to say on the Bluesky announcement. “This was drawn by Taiwanese artist Monday Recovery, who also did the art for Yáng Shuāngzǐ’s (Taiwan Travelogue) “Fantastic Tales of Splendid Blossoms” novel and graphic novel”.

The folks at Manga Mavericks have listed Butch x Butch Yuri Anthology on their store! Quick disclaimer – I work with MM now as an editor, but this piece has nothing to do with me. ^_^

Via Comic Natalie, Keyang, creator of Throw The Suit Away Together has a short story collection, Don’t Call Me Sempai, (センパイって言うな きぃやん百合作品集) being released by Ichijinsha. Keyyang and other Yuri artists are releasing Osake no Sei ni wa Shimasenkara Yuri × Inshu Anthology  from Comic Newtype  (お酒のせいにはしませんから 百合×飲酒アンソロジー).

Via Yuri Navi, Afternoon Tea ha Ikagadesuka? Watashi to Sempai no, Fujunde Ichizuna Futarikurashi (アフタヌーンティーはいかがですか？ 私と先輩の、不純で一途なふたり暮らし) is being serialized on Comic Walker, drawn by Fumio Fumi and original story by Momota Ro . This is a classic “adult” story of college roommates.

Lastly, via Sr. YNN Correspondent Matt Marcus, Sweet Heat  (スウィートヒート！) is a new manga by Kosame Hiyori combining Yuri and wrestling. ^_^

Yuri Manga

ANN’s Anita Tai has news that the 9th volume of the manga adaptation of The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady will be the final volume.

Joanana Cayanan also writes on ANN that Mikanuji, is launching a new manga in Comic Newtype. Tsukuru Niwa is about two sisters who become caretakers of a sharehouse (a kind of boarding house.)

Kuzushiro has a new manga on Takeshobo’s online platform Takecomic, 30 Made Hitoridattara Issho ni Kurasou’tte Itta yo ne? (30まで独りだったら一緒に暮らそうって言ったよね？) about two friends who made a (drunken) promise if they were still single at 30 that they would live together.

YNN Correspondent Tazimonfire wants you to know that long-time Precure manga artist for Nakayoshi magazine, Kamikita Futago, is retiring after 22 years, according to Oricon on X.

Yuri Anime

Joann Cayanan reports that Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android? anime will have a January 9 premier, and is announcing more cast, staff OVA plans(!) and a new trailer. Based on the trailer we should not expect amazing animation from this anime, but that is not why you’re watching it, surely?

Yuri-tangential, Yamashita Tomoko’s Ikoku Nikki has a new trailer, has added more cast, OP and has a January 4 debut, also via Joana Cayanan.

Yuri Navi is interested in an upcoming Netflix original Cosmic Princess Kaguya,  a musical re-imagining of the classic Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, with two young women, and something something idol. Alex Mateo has details on ANN.

Live-Action

Fujimoto Tatsuki’s Look Back is getting a live-action adaptation, according to ANN’s Alex Mateo. I don’t think a live-action will add anything, but I guess it will get the story in front of people who don’t read manga or watch animation.

The folks at Studio Elan are releasing Reflections of the Chronicler: The Upwards, Rain! Artbook. This link leads to the promo on Steam. They have also announced a Upwards, Rain! The Scattered Letters of Vitae webcomic.

Light Novel 

Brought to our attention by Sr. YNN Correspondent and LN expert Sean Gaffney, (and confirmed by others) ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!  Volume 5 light novel may have been translated by AI. With the anime coming out shortly, this seems like choices have been made. As you know, we do not support AI here and are hoping that this will be corrected.

Other News

Asamiya Kia and Marvel (for whom Asamiya has worked over the years) are teaming up to do an original Silent Möbius comic. C. B Cebulski will be editor on this. I’m very interested in how this turns out. Marvel currently has Peach Momoko and Zack Davisson working on X-Men,  and I really love her art on that, as well. Watanukihiroya’s Aliens, Volume 1 (エイリアンズ) tells a scifi Yuri story of an alien who crashes on Earth and is saved by a sexaroid.

Via Comic Natalie, we have news of a new story beginning serialization in Comic Yuri Hime, “Hina-chan ga Iketerunara” about a girl who returns after disappearing (kamikakushi, the “spirited away” of the Ghibli title.) Also mentioned in this article is the new look for the 2026 covers, this time with art by Cheriko.

Tayutau Futari, Volume 1 (たゆたうふたり) is about an introverted girl whos life changes when she meets an older girl who smoke and has a centipede tattoo.

Via Comic Natalie, Nagashiro Rouge ‘s collection of Yuri short stories Eve to Eve-tachi (イヴとイヴたち) is now in a new edition with added stories. The original volume was licensed by Seven Seas, and reviewed on Okazu, as Eve and Eve.

Also via Comic Natalie, I’m going to just cut and paste their description for Oshi-Koi Cappriccio (推し恋カプリチオ)-  Mitsuha Hikawa, a second year high school student, likes BL. She spends her days daydreaming about her male classmates with her friend Majima Rui, but one day she is horrified when one of her “observation targets,” a boy named Kagomiya, tells her, “Hikawa, you like Rui, right?” Kagomiya is also in love with his best friend, Kitamura… A fujoshi gal and a handsome yuri boy who share a secret struggle for their love. The work is currently being serialized in Monthly Comic Gene  from Kadokawa.

Via Egan Loo over at ANN, Girl Crush, the first two volumes of which we’ve had reviewed here by our own Eleanor Walker, will be getting a TV anime series.

The newest Precure series has been announced, 2026 will see Detective Star PreCure. Anita Tai has the details at ANN. I didn’t watch this year’s iteration, it just didn’t work for me at all.

Yuri Light Novels

Sean Gaffney has reviewed This Gyaru’s Got a Thing for… Vampire Hunters?!, Vol. 2 on A Case Suitable For Treatment and while it’s not as Yuri-ish as Volume 1, still has some elements worth reading.

Tokyopop’s LoveLove imprint has announced three titles of interest for us! Via multiple YNN Correspondents, we have news of How My Cute Girlfriend and I Started a Love Story by Nomiya Rion, There, Beneath the Water by Fuyumushi Kaiko and Knight-Type Girlfriend by Suzumiya Kiriha.

YNN Correspondent gqll also notes that The Comics Beat’s Ollie Kaplan has an Interview with Lena Atanassova on LoveLove’s inclusive vision and bringing UNNIE, I LIKE YOU! to print.

Seven Seas has licensed The Death Defying Princess Creates a Yuri Harem to Survive by Akashiro Aoi, Kouji Moromi, Murata Shinya, and Yanai Nobuhiko. I’m gonna have to read that.

Yen Press has an interview with Unni, creator of I Love Amy. I reviewed that for ANN’s upcomingwinter manga guide, but really, cannot recommend it here. CW for manipulation, torture, kidnapping and general horribleness. But if you like very toxic Yuri, have at it.

Via YNN Correspondent Manga’Albine, Natsuo Mutsumi’s Yuzuki doesn’t think! which won a Shueisha Newcomer Manga Encouragement Award in 2021, is available for free on their Tomboys site.  This is a story about a butch and tomboy working in a men’s clothing cafe. ^_^

Galette No. 36 is hitting inboxes shortly for members of the Galette Fanclub. Galette Special English Edition. No. 4 backers have been contacted with the price of shipping and tariffs. For my backing level, I’m paying +60% on the cost of the item. In no way do I blame Galette. Contacting our Congress members  and letting them know this is not okay is something we can do.

Love Bullet is out digitally and headed for shelves in print in a few weeks. inee’s remarkable manga is getting a special Kinokuniya pre-order variant cover, for folks who like that kind of thing!

Seven Seas’ first Baihe release, The Beauty’s Blade: Mei Ren Jian is out now! This has a standard cover and a Crunchyroll variant cover, as well.

Sr. YNN Correspondent Frank says “The Baiheverse folks are on a roll: They just announced a license for the baihe manhua I Got Blackmailed by the Fake Bitch in Class, another entry in the “opposites attract” schoolgirl yuri genre. (It’s not yet up on their site yet though.)”

If you are in the NYC area, don’t miss Rica Takashima’s exhibit at hetLabo in Brooklyn to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the First Yuri manga ever published in English, Rica ‘tte Kanji!?

While I was in Paris for the wonderful Y/CON 11, I also had a chance to visit Musée national des arts asiatiques-Guimet for the Manga. Tout un Art! exhibition. Highly recommended and I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow. ^_^

The Kase-san series is 15 years old! To celebrate, creator Takashima Hiromi is doing a web sign event with Shosen book stores. According to their post on X, if you apply to the online event, you’ll get a bonus.

Animate is selling tickets to a Comic Yuri Hime 20th anniversary event/shop. If anyone is going, please let me know and take lots of pictures, because Hayashiya Shizuru-sensei says that there will be Strawberry Shake Sweet illustrations and…I wannnttttt to seeee them!

No Straight Lines, Vivian Kleiman’s documentary about queer comics and comic artists will screen free during the month of December on Pbs.org. If you haven’t watched this, don’t miss it. It’s a very moving discussion of the beginning of modern queer American comics. We’ve lost a number of the featured artists already, so this was so critical a work. I reviewed this movie in 2021, and the comic anthology that spawned it and the Queer and Comics events, in 2013.
