Yuri Network News – (百合ネットワークニュース) – February 14, 2025

February 14th, 2026

In black block letters, YNN Yuri Network News. On the left, in black silhouette, a woman with a broad brim hat and dress stands, a woman in a tight outfit sits against the Y. Art by Mari Kurisato for OkazuHappy Valentine’s Day! Because Yuri is now a profitable market and marketing people have the collective creativity of a cracker (speaking as a marketing person, ahem), it feels like every company on the planet is announcing new Yuri licenses this week. Plus a ton of other news, so…buckle in folks. This is a Yuri Love Valentine’s Day extravaganza edition of Yuri Network News! Ready? …. (You’re not ready…)

English Yuri Manga

Yen Press has a load of new books. We have Assorted Entanglements, Vol. 9 cover  debut and it’s up on the Yuricon Store now.  The Demon Bride: “I Love You” Are Frightening Words tells a Yuri tale of paranormal love.

From Tokyopop’s LoveLove imprint, we have How My Cute Girlfriend and I Started a Love Story, Volume 1 by Reon Nomiya.  Tokyopop has confirmed that There, Beneath the Water, Volume 1 is a Yuri horror manga. When these have official covers they’ll go up on the Store.

ANN’s Adriana Hazra has the news that Kadokawa is releasing two Yuri titles in English, Farewell, My Firsts: How My Heartless Childhood Friend Stole All My First Experiences One Bet at a Time and Shino and Ren by Minori Chigusa. I have read one Kadokawa book and was very impressed with the quality, so look forward to these.

Seven Seas is running a Valentine’s Day Yuri contest on X. They also have a a bunch of licenses this week:

A Love Yet to Bloom by Kon Fukaumi. This is a chance meeting at school story.

A Couple Drifting in the Wind by Puebro. I’m reading this right now in Japanese. A nervous young photographer meets a woman with a unique tattoo on campus.

Sleeping Idiot by Masakazu Ishiguro. I read and reviewed this here on Okazu  a lifetime ago. ^_^  Seven Seas says “Two roommates struggle to make ends meet until an opportunity changes everything—the manga that inspired the hit live-action film Nemurubaka: Hypnic Jerks”.

Yuri Publisher No.9 is running a Yuri Contents Festival through March 6. Yuri series are free or discounted on their platform.

Korean GL

Yen Press has a huge announcement this week – hit Korean GL manhwa, What Does the Fox Say?  by Team Gaji. This is a pretty popular title, so this is huge news. ^_^ I’m glad someone got this.

Japanese Yuri Manga

Yamada to Kase-san, Volume 5 (山田と加瀬さん。) is on JP bookshelves and on the Yuricon Store.

rui obata on X announced a new series, Isso, Koidattara Yokatta (いっそ、恋だったらよかったのに). Check it out on Comic Walker. This is the story of two women who meet years after high school, when one was just thinking about the other.

Baihe News

Crossed Hearts has announced their first Glam Beat imprint license on X, Borrowing Your Textbook (175160) by Taa Ro. This will be  digital-first license. They say more Baihe on the way.

Seven Seas is launching a whole new imprint for Baihe with a rather cheesy video, I have to say. I know we’re getting more, they told me so, but what, I don’t yet know. We’ll look forward to it together. ^_^

Via NongAnnTokyo X.com, who says they “found this one-shot about love and martial arts between two young women in the Ming Dynasty. It’s the author’s graduate project and honestly such a cool read. Liǎoliǎo Jiàn Sōngxuě (了了見松雪)  by Chen Yige is on Seika manga.

LoveLove has announced She Is Still Cute Today by Guo Si Te which features a romance between two very different kinds of people.

Yuri Light Novel

J-Novel Club just announced the license for Unsung Epics of the Hero’s Journey. I have this on my Bookwalker to-read pile. Guess it’s time to get into it. ^_^ Hat tip to OASG for the news.

The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady, Vol. 8.5  is up on the Yuricon Store, and a review of this short story collection is forthcoming soon. ^_^ Volume 9 is also coming soon.. This completes the series. Speaking of Piero Karasu, the creator of MagiRevo is debuting a new LN, Mob Shoujo ga Rasubosu Majo o Shiawasenisuru Made (モブ少女がラスボス魔女を幸せにするまで) which is an isekai about a girl who decides to save her beloved friend from becoming the final boss.

Lycoris Recoil: Recovery Days continues the story of those happy-go-lucky schoolgirl assassins, from Yen Press. Yen also announced The Girls’ Last Tour Collector’s Edition

Seven Seas has announced the license for I’m In Love With The Villainess: Come On And Notice Me Already, the sequel story following Rae and Claire’s daughters, Mei and Aleah. inori.-sensei has been releasing this on her Pixiv Fanbox, so I’m caught up. It has some very good elements and some that I am less happy with, but I trust the author.

Lipton Sousaku‘s contest-winning light novel Jinsei Zenbu Kakete mo, Gin no Majo ni Kachitai (人生全部賭けても、銀の魔女に勝ちたい) will be out next week on digital platforms. This Yuri story is about two witches who meet again five years after the one defeated the other in a school battle. The author describes it as “A stubborn and talented tsundere  x a secretive and lonely genius who is an emotional rival Yuri.” ^_^

Teren Mikami has a new manga, with art by Moroko Kurasaki and original character designs by Miman, Makemasenkara to Iiharu Kao no Ii Onnanoko o, Zenryoku de Kuppukusaseru Yuri no Ohanashi (負けませんからと言い張る顔のいい女の子を、全力で屈服させる百合のお話).

Seven Seas  announced There’s No Freaking Way I’ll be Your Lover! Unless… Spin-off Collection by Teren Mikami and Musshu. They also have the audiobook for Adachi and Shimamura, Volume 9 light novel.

LoveLove has licensed Ugly Girls by Rokakoen. This multi-country paranormal story sounds intriguing. And this is a novel, not a LN. This is a trend I’m seeing among manga publishers. Yen has a number of non-illustrated LNs -y’know, novels – that I have genuinely enjoyed. Maybe I’ll do a quick round up for you all here.

Morishima Akiko has shared a few photos from the Yuri Kuma Arashi 10th Anniversary Event on her X account.

As I write, today is the last day of Yen Press’s Yuri Cafe. It was a lovely warm spot in the middle of what has been a very cold February in NYC. My article about the cafe on ANN is live, and so is my more personal perspective here in Okazu.

Looks like the Sailor Moon Shining Theater restaurant is back in Tokyo at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Club eX. Rafael Antonio Pineda has the details on ANN. That was so much fun, I highly recommend the experience.

Yuri Events

Top news this week is that Yen Press is running a one-day Yuri Cafe in New York City on February 7. Seats have already filled, so I will not link to the announcement, BUT! Because the event is timed, due to so many people wanting to join, and some folks not getting a seat, I am taking this opportunity to run an impromptu Yuricon/Okazu get-together.

My wife and I will be at the Yuri Cafe from 12-1 PM, and after that, we will be heading over to Mid-town Kinokuniya. They have a small cafe on the second floor and a Yuri section you can browse, plus loads of Yuri merch.  We’ll be there from about 1:30-4PM.  This is open to anyone, but I am imposing a few ground rules for people who wish to join us:

-This is a place of business. Please do not be overly loud, rude, distracting or in people’s way

 – Buy *something*. A bottle of water at the cafe, ideally a piece of Yuri merch, a book…something. This is not a public space. We need to make sure that we do not invade their space and use their resources for no return. I know you just came to/ are going to a cafe. That is a different place of business.

Please be kind and friendly. Say hello to other people who join. Introduce yourself! We are all Yurijin.

Clean up after yourself. This should be obvious, but just in case, if you unwrap something, or eat something, please make sure you throw away the refuse.

Thank you.  I look forward to see people and hanging out for a little while. Hope to see you at the cafe and post-cafe meetup. If you are not in or near NYC, and would like to see Yen do this in a place near you, see if they attend a local convention and let them know you’d like something similar.

Via Takashima-sensei’s X account, Animate Gratte is doing a Yamada and Kase-san cafe event on February 2, 2026 in 9 Animate locations in Japan!

Into the New Lily is a combined Baeghab/GL/Yuri festival happening in Seoul, Korea on May 3, 2026. From my understanding this is combining two events into one. This is a reservation-only event, for people 15 years or older.

Yuru Yuri anime is celebrating a 15th anniversary event, says Comic Natalie. The “Yuriyurararara Yuruyuri Broadcast Room 15th Anniversary Event” will be held at Science Hall in Tokyo on April 19th.

Yuri Manga

Via Aoto Hibiki’s X account, she has a new manga being serialized in Comic Cune magazine, Kono Koi, Ittan Mochikaerasete Itadakimasu (この恋、一旦持ち帰らせていただきます). She says this is an office romance about a career-driven sempai and a warm and fuzzy kouhai. It appears that Cune is ramping up the Yuri once again.

The Princess Flower of Sylph (Volume 1 of which was reviewed here on Okazu by Patricia Baxter) has gone independent and is being serialized on a number of platforms, all of which are on the Yuricon Store. This fantasy story is a great indie work and can use your support!

Muromaki-sensei reminds you on X that Lilies Blooming in 100 Days is on sale now from Yen Press.

GlamBeat is teasing a new Yuri license – one of 12! – announcement coming soon, on their X account.

Yuri Anime

Is it even a Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha anime if Mizuki Nana doesn’t sing the opening theme? Well, luckily the new series,  Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance, will fit that bill. Joana Cayanan at ANN has details.

atelier on X has put their Yuri animation No Love 1/2 on archive.org so anyone, anywhere can watch it. This is described as “A cocktail mix of yuri with neo-noir and girls-with-guns.

Anime Japan’s “Manga We Want To See Animated” Ranking is on and you can vote for a number of Yuri titles! Love Bullet is currently No. 44, Sukeban and Tenkousei (not Yuri, but friendship) is #24, Takane-san and Arashi-chan is #28, and Lonely Girl ni Sakaraenai (I Can’t Say No To The Lonely Girl) is #48!

Other News

Speaking of YNN Correspondent and guest reviewer, Patricia Baxter, check out her new article for Anime Herald! Unmasking Neurodivergence in the Manga World.

I am super excited to share the first three books I am editing for Manga Mavericks! All are up for pre-order now:

FISHGOD by Chlona is a completely wacky story about revenge and corruption and monster fish. Meet Jaytle Nish, a man who lost his parents to those fish as a child and a mysterious woman (?) Kasaco, who appears out of nowhere to help him fight them. This book is crazy fun.

Horon of the Closed Country is my truest love of this batch. This fairytale-like story of three people who have lost something important to them, and are traveling together to find it, is haunting and beautiful. Horon’s cast includes two non-binary characters. It’s outstanding.

Sinbad: This is classic shounen manga based on the Voyages of Sinbad. It’s full of Arabian Nights atmosphere and color, and adventure and Sinbad saving pretty girls. It’s rope-swinging fun.

I’m working with fantastic translators, Trish Ledoux and Mari Morioito. You didn’t hear it from me, but keep your eyes pealed to Manga Mavericks, because Good. Things. Will. Be. Coming. ^_^

On ANN this week I reviewed Wash It All Away, Volumes 2-5. I liked and did not like this series in equal parts.

The top news of the week is that Japan’s first Yuri research book, Hajimete no Yuri Studies: Queer/Feminist no Shiten Kara (はじめての百合スタディーズ: クィア/フェミニストの視点から) by Nakamura Kasumi, Kondoh Ginga, and Mizukami Aya with supplemental essays by myself and Shinada Reika, published by Ohta Book, will hit Japanese shelves next month. I hope you’ll pre-order it and give it the push it deserves! This book is a big deal, as I mentioned in my Okazu post this week about it.

BBC China has a Chinese-language article about Yuri/GL/Baihe, with a brief discussion of Thai Dramas: 泰国女同性恋爱情故事如何发展成为一个价值数百万美元的产业 by 南甘帕特·帕昌 (Nongnapat Patcham).

Yuri Manga

Morishima Akiko-sensei (who did the cover art for the Yuri Studies book), noted on X that Yuri Kuma Arashi turns 10 years old (!) this year. The Kadokawa Store is selling anniversary acrylic stands.

Also from Morishima-sensei, Chapter 10 of her manga Hitorimi Desu. (ひとりみです) will take on the travails of a lesbian couple trying to have a child back in the early 2000s. Read it in Japanese on Comic Walker.

Edition 88 is doing an art merch collaboration with Rose of Versailles prints and acrylic stands this week at the gallery in Tokyo.

Ikuta Hana’s Ryuu to Ryuu no Kekkon (竜と龍の結婚), a tale about two dragon princesses in a political engagement, is on the Yuricon Store!

Galette on Bluesky announces the cover for Galette No. 37 (ガレット). Cover art by pen, and again, so grown-up. ^_^

So far on JP Kindle only (but fingers  crossed for other options) the sequel Watashi no Oshi ha Akuyaku Reijou. Furimukinasai, Watakushi ni! (振り向きなさい、わたくしに!) follows the twins, Aleah and Mei, as teens.

Chaser Game W has been novelized with a two-volume series on JP Kindle.

Baihe News

From Baiheverse, we have a new series,  Remaking of the Unforgotten Love from creator Causticsoda, translated by longlegdog. “Hitting a slump in life, Li Han turns to Lu Shiyin—an author and her childhood friend—for help. Shiyin, having long liked Li Han, accepts on the terms that Li Han becomes her assistant. However, Li Han soon finds out that this author’s life is not as peaceful as she imagined…”

Via Sr. YNN Correspondent Sean Gaffney, Baiheverse on X just announced the license for Have no Fear, Shijie’s Here by Can’tNameThings. It’s an isekai/transmigration tale that sounds very fun, tbh.

Other News

ANN’s Winter 2026 Light Novel Guide is up and I read a lot of LNs so you didn’t have to and a few you should, even if they aren’t Yuri. There were three I really enjoyed – all three are novels, rather than light novels. ^_^

Via Comic Natalie, here are some images from the Look Back Exhibition in Azabudai Hills in Tokyo, based on the live-action adaptation of the manga by Fujimoto Tatsuki. I’ve reviewed the manga in Japanese and English and the anime here on Okazu.

DaVinci magazine is publishing a special Looking at 20 Years of BL through DaVinci,  (別冊ダ・ヴィンチ ダ・ヴィンチが見つめたBLの20年 2006~2026) available on Amazon JP and Bookwalker JP. And other bookstores in person and online, undoubtedly.

Cutie Honey and Kekko Kamen creator Go Nagai is being inducted into the Eisner Comics Hall of Fame. Crystalynn reports on that as well on ANN.

Yuri Live-Action

Sr. YNN Correspondent Frank Hecker wants you to know about Candy, a new sapphic live-action series from Singapore, streaming on GagaOOLala. The synopsis sounds amazing: “Nuannuan—the girl she once left behind in her youth—reenters her life as an assistant. Under the pressure of fame and public scrutiny, the two escape the city to join a rural reality show.”

The Chaser Game W live-action series is getting a sequel film in May, says ANN’s Rafael Antonio Pineda.

Ironic shenanigans are occurring with the If My Favorite Pop Idol Made it to the Budokan, I Would Die stage play. A manager harassed a cast member with “inappropriate communications” so the cast member’s activities are being suspended and she is being replaced. Enraging. If there is a single series hat has made me truly loathe the idol industry, it’s this one. Anyway, Anita Tai has the details on ANN.

Via Comic Natalie, we learn that Yuri manga Fukukaichou no Omona Oshigoto is getting a live-action drama. This is a high school story about the VP and President of a school council.

The Tokyo Dyke documentary is available to be watched on Vimeo, says YNN Correspondents eve, and blogbourri notes that Honey & Honey creator Takeuchi Sachiko is interviewed in this.

Yuri Anime

Bushiroad announced a Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight sequel, says ANN’s Joanna Cayanan.

Andoroid wa Keiken Ninzuu ni Hairimasu ka? ? (アンドロイドは経験人数に入りますか??) short anime is running right now on Japanese television, and other JP platforms. It appears that the OceanVeil streaming platform has AnimeFesta titles, so if you have a subscription to that, you can watch it there.

Yuri Manga

Via Comic Natalie, Watashitachi no Koi ga Kanahiraku Toki (私たちの恋が花開くとき) is an isekai Yuri anthology. This is from Bamboo Comics and I don’t recognize any of the creators, so now I’m extra interested!

This one-shot in Comic Days F30 no Kimi  (F30のきみ) is about the mysterious things that happen after a girl draws her classmate. Yuri Navi tells us that this won an award from Afternoon magazine, and it is pretty interesting.

Galette Illustration Book No. 5 is out and available on Booth.pm! This continues the collection of pen’s amazing cover art and other color illustrations from the magazine.

Speaking of the magazine, Galette Special English Edition No. 4 Kickstarter rewards have shipped. They look great as always and I think a special thanks to the folks at Galette WORKS is in order, as this one really stressed them out with concerns about the tariffs and higher shipping costs.

Amano Mochi celebrated on X, an honorable mention for their Yuri one-shot Harukasu no Furi (春風のふり) on the FLOS  Comics Awards. You can read this manga in Japanese on Comic Walker.

Yen posted on socials about Yuri and muromaki-sensei did them one better by promising good health if you read Yuri! ^_^

Thank you for everyone’s support!!!! Read yuri it makes your skin glow and gives you six pack abs in 100 days!!!!!

Yuri Light Novels

The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady, Vol. 8.5 is headed our way this month. This volume contains seven short stories about the characters. At last, something to read on the plane that won’t make me cry.

inori.-sensei has announced that her sequel to I’m In Love With the Villianess, Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Reijou: Furimukinasai, Watakushi ni! has been picked up in Japanese by GL Bunko. She asks that you contact the publisher of the series in your country and ask them to license it. That’s Seven Seas for English readers. Luckily Seven Seas’ monthly licensing survey is live, so you can jump right over and ask!

Creator Kyota Ko, whose videos on the foibles of the Japanese language are very amusing (I loved the one about how Kyoto’s sarcasm is orders above Tokyo’s) has a new video. Via YNN Correspondent Roxie, he mentions Yuri in Why do anime characters nosebleed so often? Check it out on Youtube.

The mook Kikan SS is running an interview about creating the manga of  If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It To The Budokan, I Would Die, with creator Hirao Auri.

Good Things to Read

We have a pile of reviews for you this week. ^_^

Sr. YNN Correspondent Sean Gaffney thinks the LN series The Holy Grail of Eris, while not Yuri, might be of interest to Okazu readers. He suggests reading Rebecca Silverman’s review of the first two episode of the anime on ANN. The series is streaming on Crunchyroll. Yen has the LNs.

I reviewed the Drops of God Season 2 on Apple TV and interviewed the stars of the series over on ANN. It was a very short interview, but they were fun and engaged with the questions in a meaningful way.

My review of Baki The Grappler, Volume 5-6, grapples with staying interesting while the manga is basically this kid getting beaten and beating the shit out of people. ^_^ It’s so much fun.

Errata

Last week YNN and other sources reported that the Fed-Up Office Lady Wants to Serve The Villainess is getting an anime adaptation. This is not true. Creator Nekotarou has said on their X account that this was an erroneous announcement by SugoiLITE. No such adaptation is being planned. We apologize for sharing the misinformation here.

Discotek has announced the release of 2016’s cyberpunk Cutey Honey Tears. I know it probably won’t be Yuri, but Honey always is welcome on Okazu. ^_^

Also not Yuri, but darn interesting-looking is Cosmic Princess Kaguya, which will be streaming on Netflix this month. Japanese mythology, idol/band stuff and girl stuff. ^_^ Maybe adjacent? We’ll see. Looks colorful.

*Also* not Yuri, but adjacent is the news that the Sound! Euphonium Final Movie, Part 1 has a theme, by TRUE. I do wish to express displeasure at multi-part final movies. Bad. No cookie.
