‘By Your Side’ Interview at Kinokuniya NYC

December 2nd, 2022

This week, I had the incredible pleasure of being interviewed a Kinokuniya NYC in midtown New York City. I cannot begin to tell you how much fun this was! Thanks so much to everyone at the store, especially Ariel, the interviewer. We held the interview right as people walked into the store, so we had quite an audience. I signed some books – and even had a few folks there pick some up. Thanks to the folks who came by!

Once again, I’ll ask you to give this video a watch and a “like” on the Kinokuniya Youtube Channel. It helps them and lets them know that they made a good choice to have me. ^_^ Here’s the whole interview:

If you’d like to share some shorter clips, they also had me do a pitch for my book… ^_^

…and then read a short segment.

Please feel free to share any of these and comment on YT! Thank you all for making By Your Side a success and thanks again to everyone at Kinokuniya NYC and Kinokuniya USA for their support.

You can find By Your Side: The First 100 Years of Yuri Anime and Manga at Kinokuniya, online or at bookstores near you!

New Okazu Anniversary Video on Yuri Studio!

September 4th, 2022

Thanks to my Patrons for the idea. As a final celebration of reading, watching, and writing about Yuri here on Okazu, we have a new video up on Yuri Studio: S03 E05 Top 10 Changes In Yuri From 20 Years of Okazu!

In this video I think about all the things I’ve seen change in Yuri and Yuri fandom and celebrate each and every step forward. So join me and let’s talk about some changes we’ve seen in Yuri!

Your likes and kind comments on YouTube make a huge difference to the algorithm sharing my videos and are very much appreciated! I hope you’ll subscribe and get notifications, as well, because these are things YouTube judges me on. ^_^

Thank you so much to all my YNN Correspondents, Guest Reviewers, commenters and readers here on Okazu. Happy 20th Anniversary to the Okazu Family!

(Also, note the excellent new t-shirt! It’s up on the Yuricon store. ^_^ When you go to Redbubble, the image shows up blank on the page header because Redbubble won’t let me show the image with background color. Scroll down and check out the items to see the image.)

New on Yuri Studio – My Life As A Manga Character

August 5th, 2022

Okazu Patrons asked for more video content for the 20th anniversary of Okazu, and I am absolutely planning on something for that. In the meantime, here’s a fun, little short video that I’ve wanted to share for a while…about the times I appeared in manga!

As always, a like and kind comment on Youtube is appreciated! And please subscribe to Yuri Studio. I’m hoping to reach 2000 subscribers this year. ^_^

New Video on Yuri Studio!

June 23rd, 2022

Yuri Studio Season 3 Episode 4 Sports in Yuri Anime & Manga is live on YouTube! This video is in honor of the greatest Yuri sports anime to date. ^_^

I know I ask you this every time, but a “like,” and a comment on Youtube makes a difference – so does watching the whole video all the way through. Every comment and like the video gets means it’s likelier to be shared through the algorithm.

YT actually starts to pare off watching hours if you go too long without a new video, isn’t that nice? (It’s not nice.)

I hope you enjoy this new video and let me know what you think over on YT!

By Your Side Digital Bookplate Giveaway for June!

June 7th, 2022

June always presents a host of conundrums, among them how best to mark Pride month – this year I’m going with the historical precedent of rioting against cops as our spiritual ancestors did –  and, for the first time, how best to celebrate my own achievement of writing a book on the history of the Yuri genre, as well. ^_^

For the remainder of this month, I am giving a signed digital bookplate away to anyone who has purchased a digital copy of By Your Side: The First 100 Years of Yuri Aime and Manga in a digital format! (Click the link for all the online sites I have links for and for Bookshop.org if you want to support a local bookstore. Any legitimate digital format is allowable, Kindle, Nook, Kobo, or directly from the publisher.

All you need to do is send me a copy of your receipt for the e-pub, Kindle, etc, to bys@yuricon.com and I’ll send you back a signed digital bookplate with original art by Rica Takashima, especially for By Your Side!
