Response to Requests for Recommendations

August 13th, 2009

I am now up to about 20 emails/posts/comments a week requesting recommendations for other Yuri titles that people would like me to guess that they would want to read (usually scanlations, because very very rarely do people ask what they can buy.)

I do not do recommendations.

I’m not really comfortable suggesting series for people, because I don’t really know if your taste and mine coincide. And even if they do, I’m still not comfortable making series suggestions.

I will suggest that you join the Yuricon Mailing List and ask there, since a lot of people do not have the same issues suggesting things to other people that I do.

Also, I suggest going to Lililicious, I believe they have their scanlations arranged in different ways and you may be able to find series you like there.

Of course the “Yuri Manga” category at Okazu has hundreds of Yuri manga reviews, but you’ll need to decide for yourself what you are looking for in a manga.

And if you are looking for something to buy, of course I recommend visiting the Yuricon Shop where you will find hundreds of Yuri Anime and Manga to choose from, with synopses and reviews to help you choose.

In any case, I wish you the very best of luck with your quest!

I have a list of common Yuri manga recommendations here, if that helps anyone.

As you mentioned, Lililicious does have a listing by category, which may also be helpful.

You could also have recommended my List…unless you don’t approve of it.

  3. Cryssoberyl says:

Sure, but an endorsement from Okazu would’ve carried more weight – and been more satisfying. :P

  4. @Cryssoberyl – I just happened to have remembered Lili’s list, and didn’t know about yours. I don’t “endorse” spaces that are not Yuricon-related. People are free to use Google to find lots of places to get recommendations and I hope they do, because I can’t help them.

  5. Cryssoberyl says:

Ah, but you did know about it! Except you probably didn’t know I changed my name…sorry for forgetting that. ^_^

  6. @Cryssoberyl – I posted 7 months ago there. That doesn’t meant that I remembered it existed. The past 7 months have been very busy and I’m lucky to remember my name some days.

I’m sorry you feel slighted, but I can assure you that it is not meant personally. I do not “endorse” anything that is not a Yuricon space.

I don’t feel slighted in the least. Sorry if I gave that impression. My main fear was that you knew of it but, for whatever reason, didn’t consider it a good resource. I think simply forgetting about it – something perfectly understandable – is much preferable to that. ::smile:: (Also, please excuse me for taking up so much comment space on this topic.)

Ahh, brilliant, thanks for posting the links, those are pretty much what i’ve been after.
