Galette No. 38 (ガレットNo.38)

August 10th, 2026

On a pastel background, with Japanese letters that say, "When I'm not touching, you,I feel heavy" floating in the foreground A woman with long blonde hair reaches up to the sky, while a woman with dark, neck-length hair looks at her, maybe sadly.

Now that Galette No. 39 is out, I am catching up on Galette, No. 38. ^_^ Some really great manga this month!

In Inui Ayu’s “Koi ni Shitakunai” Momo finds herself following Karen as she meets another woman…and she’s not sure (yes, she is ^_^) why.

Hakamada Mera is absolutely killing it with “Akuyaku Reijo Tenseishitara Yuri Sakka ni Nattemashita”. This story of a reincarnated villain manga who is a manga artist in our world meeting her hero…who is the reincarnation of the hero who killed her in her past life, and suddenly finding herself attracted to that hero is Fantastic! Best Hakamada story ever, so far. ^_^

Nakayo Nui’s  “Otome no Shinden” has us following along as Rikako and Ririko go out on a date. They find they have  photography in common. I think we can see where this is going doll-wise, but as I dislike “setting childish things aside” narrative climaxes, I’m hoping for an ending that isn’t so dismissive of nerdy hyperfixations.

“Moka-chan ha Matte ga Jouzu desu” office place boss and junior employee connect after hours in what is a sweet, not manipulative version of this story by Haru Shion .

Nekohariko22’s “Torishuku Shimako” tale about a girl and the ghost she connects with is an absolute winner of a tale.

This issue also includes work by Yamada Toriko, a reprint of older Morinaga Milk, Amamiya Moe, Yatosaki Haru and more, 140 character shorts and illustrations for a wonderful issue of this independent quarterly Yuri manga!
